MILAN, Italy – A consistent presence on the ice during the Olympic Games, Harvard women's hockey representatives made their way to the broadcast booth at the Milano-Cortina Olympics this year. A.J. Mleczko '99, Jennifer Botterill '03, Angela Ruggiero '04 and Assistant Coach,
Venla Hovi each joined broadcast teams to provide analysis and color commentary for Olympic broadcasts during the games. Mleczko, Botterill and Ruggiero all were featured on NBC's Olympic coverage while Hovi joined the crew on Finland's YLE Urheilu network, who broadcasted the games on Finnish TV.
A two-time Olympian for the United States, Mlezcko served as NBC's color commentator during the Olympic hockey broadcasts. The 1999 graduate of Harvard – who has also worked for ESPN's hockey broadcasts in the past – Mleczko was a member of the 1998 United States Olympic team that won gold in Nagano, Japan. A Harvard women's hockey legend, Mleczko ranks fifth all-time in career points with 257.
A 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Jennifer Botterill '03 joined the NBC Sports broadcast team for the Olympics as an "Inside the Glass" Analyst. Botterill was ice-level for the games to provide color commentary along with her former teammate, Mleczko. A four-time Olympian for the Canadian National Team, Botterill helped her team secure three gold medals at the games in 2002, 2006 and 2010. The Hockey Hall of Famer can also be seen on broadcasts for Sportsnet in Canada and as a studio analyst on TNT during the NHL season. 22 years after her last season in Cambridge, Botterill still stands as the program record holder with 340 career points.
One of the most accomplished women's hockey players in the sport's history, Angela Ruggiero also was featured on NBC Sports during the Games as studio analyst. Ruggiero broke down matchups and recapped the games for NBC during its coverage of the tournament. Her work with NBC Sports began in 2022 and has taken her all over the world to provide analysis for the 2022 and 2026 Olympic Winter Games. A member of the 1999 National Championship team at Harvard, Ruggiero ranks sixth in program history with 253 career points.

Venla Hovi also made an appearance on Olympic broadcasts as a studio analyst for Finnish TV's YLE Urheilu network. Hovi – who also spent time in the studio during the 2024 IIHF World Championships – broke down matchups and provided analysis in studio for the broadcast. A three-time Olympian herself, Hovi won two Bronze medals in 2010 and 2018 with the Finnish National Team.
