Box Score BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Coming off a
tough travel turnaround following its Metrodome Tournament (Minn.),
the Harvard baseball team dropped a 9-0 decision at Gardner-Webb on
Monday afternoon.
Marcus Way provided the lone hit for Harvard (3-4), which is
back in action tomorrow at Winthrop. Gardner-Webb improves to 6-9
on the season.
Aaron Miller drove in six runs including a sixth-inning grand
slam to break open what was a 4-0 game. He was 2-for-5 on the
afternoon to lead the Bulldogs' 13-hit attack.
Andrew Ferreira didn't get out of the second inning as
four walk hurt the freshman with G-W scoring three runs on just two
hits during his time on the bump. Classmate Matt Doyle surrendered
five more runs in 3.2 innings although he showed some flashes with
three strikeouts. Will Keuper and Anthony Nutter threw scoreless
innings of relief while Evan Morris allowed one run on one hit with
a strikeout in his inning of work.
