CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- After amassing a team-best 38
points this season, junior forward Kate Buesser of the
fourth-ranked Harvard women's hockey team is among three finalists
for the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year Award, the conference office
announced Thursday. Buesser joins Cornell's Catherine White
and Dartmouth's Sarah Parsons as nominees for the award.
Buesser, who hails from Wolfeboro, N.H., paces Harvard in points,
goals (15) and assists (23). A nominee for the Patty Kazmaier
Memorial Award, presented to the nation's top collegiate player
each year, Buesser ranked second in the league with 32 points
(12-20-32) in ECAC Hockey play.
A participant in the ECAC Hockey All-Star exhibition against Team
USA in January, Buesser was tabbed to the All-Ivy League and
All-ECAC Hockey first team. She ranks 18th in the country
with 1.23 points per game and 13th with 0.74 assists per
contest. In addition, Buesser, who leads Harvard with a +26
rating, was twice named as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week this
season.
Buesser and the Crimson, which owns a 20-6-5 record, will visit
No. 6 Clarkson for a semifinal matchup of the ECAC Hockey
Championship Friday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
