CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard men's volleyball team
visited the Boys and Girls Club of Cambridge in their off-season in
an effort to reach out to the local community. Players helped young
children with homework, tutoring them for over an hour. Team
members then proceeded to instruct the rules and specific skills of
volleyball, followed by playing a few games.
"Helping out at the Boys and Girls Club was a great opportunity to
get out of the Harvard bubble and to gain a better understanding of
the needs of the community that surrounds us here,” said
freshman Rob Lothman. “Working with the kids at the Boys and
Girls Club was not only a very fun experience, but also one that
taught me about the direct influence that Harvard students can have
by serving those within the Cambridge community. The kids we worked
with were a blast, and I think that I can speak for the team as a
whole when I say that it was a great experience, one which I hope
to repeat again in the future."
Harvard heads to New Jersey this weekend to take on Stevens
Institute Friday and NJIT Saturday.
