The freshman eight remained unbeaten with the most lopsided of Harvard's three comeback wins against Princeton.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The fourth-ranked Harvard heavyweight crew takes on No. 16 Navy and No. 18 Penn in the 74th race for the Adams Cup—the 50th involving Harry Parker—Saturday morning on the Charles River.

Last Time Out
Harvard swept four races from No. 7 Princeton, culminating with a win against the Tigers' and MIT Engineers' varsity eights to claim the Compton Cup. The Crimson held a narrow lead on Princeton through 1,000 meters and was surging further ahead when the Tigers' steering cable broke. Princeton's boat then veered into Harvard's lane, and its bow collided with the Crimson's stern and broke off.

The Crimson came from behind to win the first three races of the morning. The second varsity eight edged the Tigers by less than two seconds, while the third varsity won by more than four seconds and the freshmen posted a 13-second victory.

The first EARC seeding poll of the season was released Tuesday. Harvard's varsity eight (3-1) is ranked second, trailing only Brown, in the conference. The Crimson has the top-ranked freshman eight (3-0) in the league, while the second varsity (2-1) and second freshman (2-0) eights are both ranked second and the third varsity (2-1) is fifth.

Home Sweet Home
The Harvard varsity eight has defeated its last 12 dual opponents when racing at home on the Charles River. The Crimson's last home loss was April 15, 2006 against Princeton. Harvard has defeated 37 of its last 38 home dual opponents and 16 of its last 17 overall dual foes.

History Lesson
Harvard won all five races against Penn and host Navy last season in Annapolis, Md. The Crimson varsity eight finished more than nine seconds ahead of the Quakers and Midshipmen, who were declared tied for second after Penn finished ahead but interfered in Navy's lane. It was Harvard's 10th straight and 46th overall Adams Cup win. Penn has won 14 Adams Cups, and Navy has claimed 13.

The Crimson's other four entries won by more than four seconds each, with the third varsity finishing more than 16 seconds ahead.

A Milestone for Parker
Harry Parker, the Thomas Bolles Head Coach for Harvard Men's Crew, is taking part in his 50th Adams Cup race. His first was in 1955, his first row on the Charles, when he occupied the No. 2 seat for a victorious Penn crew that would go on to win Eastern Sprints and the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley. Several members of that crew are holding a reunion in Boston this weekend and will be following the race on Saturday.

Scouting the Midshipmen
The Navy varsity eight (3-2) opened the season by defeating Georgetown, MIT and UC San Diego at the George Washington Invitational before placing third behind Cornell and Syracuse last weekend. The Mids' varsity is ranked 13th in the EARC, while the second varsity is 10th and the third varsity fifth. Navy currently boasts the top second freshman eight in the league, while the first freshmen are ranked fifth.

Scouting the Quakers
Penn's varsity (0-5), ranked 14th among EARC crews, is seeking its first victory, having lost to George Washington, Princeton, Yale and Columbia twice. The Quakers' highest-ranked boat is its No. 6 freshman eight. The second varsity is ranked 11th, and the third varsity is ninth.
