CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Harvard men's tennis
team claimed its first Ivy League win of the season, downing
Princeton 5-2 Friday afternoon. The win snaps the Crimson's three
match losing streak and improves the team to 10-10 on the season
and 1-2 in the Ancient Eight. Princeton falls to 7-11 on the year
and 1-3 in the Ivy League.
Harvard claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three
doubles matches. Aba Omodele-Lucien and Christo Schultz picked up a
9-8 victory at the top slot. Alistair Felton and Andy Nguyen
clinched the point for the Crimson with an 8-6 win at the No. 2
position.
The Crimson claimed four wins in singles action to earn its
first conference victory. Alexei Chijoff-Evans bounced back after
losing the first set 6-0 to take the second and third sets, 6-4,
6-4. Joshua Tchan picked up a win at the No. 3 spot ina third set
tiebreaker. Felton and Christo Schultz cruised to victory at
the No. 5 and 6 slots, respectively, winning in straight sets.
Harvard returns to action Saturday, April 10, as the Crimson
looks to win its second-consecutive Ivy League match when it hosts
Penn.
