PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard sophomore
pitcher Brent Suter and junior shortstop Sean O'Hara
highlighted a group of four baseball players named to the 2010
All-Ivy League teams in an announcement released Monday.
Suter and O'Hara were named to the first team while
juniors Tyler Albright and Dillon O'Neill earned honorable
mention selections.
Suter, one of just two pitchers named to the first team, was
electric in league play. The lefty went 4-0 (league best) with one
save with a 3.55 ERA and a league-leading 33 strikeouts in 33.0
innings while walking just seven batters. Suter was virtually
untouchable against left-handed batters, who went just 2-for-24
(0.83 against him). All told, Suter posted a 4-2 record with a 5.26
ERA and 47 strikeouts in 49.2 innings against 14 walks.
O'Hara was equally impressive in Ivy games as he ranked
second in league batting average with a .443 average with 13 extra
base hits and 15 runs batted in during 20 games. His
on-base-percentage of .513 also ranked second. For the season,
O'Hara ranked second on the Crimson with a .342 batting
average while posting a team-best .405 OBP. His 16 doubles were
part of a 20 extra base hit campaign that also led the team to go
with a .510 slugging percentage with 26 RBI.
Albright played virtually the entire season with a fractured
thumb on his glove hand but still made noise offensively. He was
one of just six players to hit .400 in league play, hitting the
mark exactly while posting a .493 on-base-percentage to rank fourth
in the league. He earned seven walks and was hit by six pitches
while striking out just three times in 19 games. Albright batted
.426 against righties in league play and was at his best in clutch
situations with a .524 average with runners in scoring position
(11-for-21). He drove in 15 runs during league play and led the
team with 30 RBI for the season while batting .321 overall with
nine doubles.
O'Neill recovered from a slow start to post a .295 average
in Ivy play while leading the Ancient Eight with nine stolen bases.
For the season, he swiped 16 bases in 18 attempts while collecting
a team-high three triples.
Harvard finished tied for second place in the Red Rolfe Division
at 10-10 – a record that also tied for the league's
third-best record. Harvard ranked fourth offensively in the league
with a .330 batting average during Ivy games despite fielding a
team with just three seniors. Overall, Harvard posted a 17-26
record with highlight wins coming against Notre Dame, Stetson and
Creighton.
