Claire Richardson will represent Harvard at the 2010 Track and Field National Championships (Gil Talbot).

Day One Recap

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Junior Claire Richardson qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meter run, placing ninth in the national semifinals Saturday on the campus of North Carolina A&T.

Richardson turned in the third-fastest time in the history of the program, crossing the line in 16:31.83 to earn a berth in the finals of the event, to be held in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12. Richardson is the lone Crimson athlete to qualify for the national event as Carlyle Davis and Chas Gillespie just missed qualifying for the championships.

Gillespie, also competing in the 5,000 meter run, placed 17th out of 48 runners with a time of 14:16.68, missing out on qualification by just five spots. Davis qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run on Thursday evening but was unable to advance out of the national quarterfinal round.
