Track & Field Set to Compete in Three Meets This Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field will trek across the United States this weekend, as the Crimson will feature in three meets this weekend from Thursday, Apr. 2 to Saturday, Apr. 4.

From Thursday, Apr. 2 to Saturday, Apr. 4, A select group of Crimson will head to Austin, Texas for the Austin Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Friday, Apr. 3 and Saturday, Apr. 4 sees Harvard competing at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, while Harvard will wrap the weekend at the UConn Dog Fight Invite on Saturday, Apr. 4.

WHAT TO KNOW
  • Harvard enters the weekend after a series of strong performances at the Raleigh Relays last weekend.
  • In his collegiate track & field debut, first-year Tam Gavenas captured 10th place in the 5000m, as his time of 13:41.43 ranks fourth all-time in school history.
  • A native of Andover, Massachusetts, Gavenas' mark ranks first in the Ivy League, eighth in the east region and 10th nationally.
  • The Ivy League champion in the 3000m and the 5000m at the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships earlier this year, junior Charlie Ortmans picked up right where he left off, taking fifth in the men's 10,000m with a time of 28:29.37 in the Oak City.
  • The 2026 Most Outstanding Men's Track Athlete at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships, Ortmans leads the Ivy League in the men's 10,000m, as that mark is also fifth nationally this season.
  • Sophomore Ella Cooper is leading the pack in the Ancient Eight in the women's 200m to start the outdoor season, as her mark of 23.45 ranks first in the Ivy League and 24th in the east region.
  • Fellow classmate Saige Forbes started the year fast in the women's 100m at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational, as her 11.58 leads the Ivy League this year.
  • The defending Ivy League champion in the men's 100m, junior Timi Esan set the first new school record of the year in the men's 100m, as his time of 10.26 currently ranks 10th in the east region.
UP NEXT

Harvard will take part in a trio of meets from Friday, Apr. 10 to Saturday, Apr. 11, as the Crimson compete at the Georgia Spec Towns Invite, the Friar Invitational and the UMass Multi-Meet.
