Esan Named Ivy League Men’s Athlete of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard track & field kicks off the 2026 with some hardware, as junior Timi Esan is the Ivy League Men's Athlete of the Week after a pair of standout performances in Houston, Texas last weekend.

At the Kirk Baptiste Invitational, Esan made history in the men's 100m, setting a new school record in the event with a time of 10.26. A native of London, United Kingdom, Esan is only the second student-athlete in program history to run sub-10.30 in the men's 100m, as he surpasses the former record of 10.28 set by 2004 Athens Olympian Chris Lambert '03 during the 2002 season. Esan's time also ranks in the top five all-time in Ivy League history.

Esan also made a key impact in the men's 4x100m relay at the TSU Relays on Saturday. Running in the third leg of the relay for the Crimson, Esan aided the Crimson in running a 39.72, a time that ranks fourth all-time in school history.

Harvard continues its outdoor campaign this weekend, featuring at the Raleigh Relays from Thursday, Mar. 26 to Saturday, Mar. 28 and the D'Amour Invitational on Friday, Mar. 27.
