CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After an incredibly successful indoor season, Harvard track & field is now set to begin its 2026 outdoor season in the Lone Star State on Thursday, Mar. 19 at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Harvard begins its 2026 outdoor campaign coming off the heels of an incredibly exciting conclusion to the indoor season in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships.
- Junior Tito Alofe made history at the Randal Tyson Track Center, becoming the first Crimson in program history to win the NCAA national championship in the indoor men's high jump, winning the title by resetting his school record with a height of 2.24m (7' 4.5").
- A native of Peachtree City, Georgia and a national contender in the men's high jump over the last three years, Alofe is only the second student-athlete in Ivy League to win the NCAA national championship in the indoor men's high jump. Alofe joins Kenneth Ikeji '25 as the only Crimson from the men's team since 2000 to win national championships in indoor competition.
- The women's 800m saw junior Sophia Gorriaran earn All-America First Team honors in the event for the second time in her career, finishing in eighth place with a time of 2:03.02.
- Along with her top eight finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Gorriaran also set a NCAA record in the women's 1000m with a time of 2:37.72 to close out the indoor regular season.
- In addition to Alofe and Gorriaran, Harvard returns five NCAA qualifiers from last year's outdoor season.
- Junior Ferenc Kovacs returns to action after taking third place in the 1500m at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. A native of Torokbalint, Hungary, Kovacs is the Ivy League and program record holder in the 1500m with a time of 3:34.79, as Kovacs was also the USTFCCCA Northeast Outdoor Men's Track Athlete of the Year in 2025.
- A two-time All-American in the women's discus, junior Milina Wepiwé enters action as the two-time defending Ivy League champion in the women's discus throw, as her personal-best of 59.75m (196'0") is an Ivy League and school record.
- A top 10 finisher in her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut in the women's hammer throw last year, junior Emilia Kolokotroni is a two-time Ivy League defending champion in the event.
- The Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete at the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships, senior Molly Malague is looking to follow up on a 2025 outdoor season that saw her represent the Crimson in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- Junior Marta Amani is looking to return to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for a second straight year, as the Villa Cortese, Italy native earned All-America Second Team honors in the women's high jump last year.
