Three Crimson Earn USTFCCCA Northeast Indoor Postseason Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After a superb 2025-26 indoor season, three members of the Harvard track & field program garnered United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Northeast Regional Awards.

Junior Tito Alofe is USTFCCCA Northeast Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, while junior Sophia Gorriaran garners USTFCCCA Northeast Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. For the first time in his Crimson coaching career, assistant coach Brenner Abbott is the USTFCCCA Northeast Men's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year.

A national contender in the men's high jump over the past three years, Alofe wins the USTFCCCA Northeast Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honors after a landmark campaign that saw him become the first student-athlete in program history to win the NCAA national championship in the indoor men's high jump. A native of Peachtree City, Georgia, Alofe is only the second student-athlete in Ivy League history to win the NCAA indoor men's high jump national title, as he is the first from the northeast region since 1984. During the 2025 outdoor season, Alofe earned USTFCCCA Northeast Outdoor Men's Field Athlete of the Year after qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships for a second straight year.

Gorriaran earns USTFCCCA Northeast Indoor Women's Track Athlete of the Year honors after a record-breaking and sensational 2025-26 indoor campaign. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran earned All-America First Team honors in the indoor women's 800m after finishing in eighth in the event at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships. The Ivy League champion in the women's 800m and mile this year, Gorriaran also set a new NCAA record in the women's 1000m at the Saucony Battle of Boston with a time of 2:37.72. Now a six-time All-American, Gorriaran is the only student-athlete in program history to hold multiple active NCAA records.

In his 15th season coaching the Crimson's vertical jumpers, javelin throwers and decathletes, Abbott is the USTFCCCA's Northeast Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Abott guided Alofe to the NCAA men's high jump national title last weekend, as he also pushed Alofe to a new school record (2.24m/7'4.25") in the event as well. Abbott also helped first-year Yannick Kraus set a new school record in the men's heptathlon (5288) at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships in New York.

Harvard starts the outdoor season today in the Lone Star State at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational in Houston, Texas.
