RALEIGH, N.C. – Harvard track & field started its weekend in the Oak City with strong and exciting performances in distance events at the Raleigh Relays.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- The Crimson's time in North Carolina started with the men's 1500m. Making his outdoor track debut, first-year Grant Schroder highlighted the Crimson's showing in the event, finishing in 146th place with a time of 3:51.96. Fellow classmate Arashi Hunter stopped the clock at 3:52.20 to finish in 149th place, as first-year Andrew Thornton-Sherman opened his outdoor career with a 214th place finish and a time of 3:58.98.
- A major showing arrived for Harvard in the men's 5000m, as another first-year orchestrated a pivotal moment. With a time of 13:41.43, first-year Tam Gavenas finished in 10th place in a field that featured 187 runners, as that mark ranks fourth all-time in program history.
- Along with Gavenas, junior Owen Bosley also finished within the top 100 of the men's 5000m, crossing the finish line in 14:26.14 to capture 104th place. Junior Ethan Aidam logged a 14:51.05 to place in 168th, while sophomore William Brunner finished in 174th place with a time of 14:52.59.
- The Ivy League's champion in the 5000m and 3000m during the indoor season, junior Charlie Ortmans finished in fifth place in the men's 10,000m with a time of 28:29.37. Fellow classmate Sam Burgess finished in 13th place with a time of 28:55.37.
