Alex Meyer looks to capture the 10K title at the Pan Pacific
Championships Sunday (Gil Talbot).
IRVINE, Calif. – Alex Meyer '10 turned in a
strong performance in his opening event at the Mutual of Omaha Pan
Pacific Championships Wednesday. The former Harvard swimmer
competed in the 1,500-meter freestyle event, one of two events he
is scheduled to compete in at the meet.
Meyer swam a personal best time of 15:23.64 to capture 15th
place in the mile. His next event, the 10K, will be an open water
race and is the final event of the championships. The 10K open
water race will be contested Sunday morning.
Meyer has already had an accomplished summer, earning a spot on
the U.S. Open Water Swimming team in June and capturing the 25K
world title in Roberval, Canada in July.
