Marco Iannuzzi returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown but it wasnt enough as Brown defeated the Crimson, 29-14.

PROVIDECE, R.I. – A mistake-prone Harvard team could not get on track Saturday night as the Crimson fell at Brown, 29-14, in the first night game in Brown Stadium history in front of an announced crowd of 17,360.

Harvard (1-1, 0-1 Ivy) fumbled the ball four times and threw two interceptions on a night that saw its defense on the field for 39:05. The Crimson defense held stout but Brown's (2-0, 1-0 Ivy) Alex Norocea converted 5-of-6 field goals to account for the difference in the game.

In 2008, Harvard lost its Ivy League opener at Brown as well before coming back to win the league championship.

All told, Harvard committed 10 penalties for 74 yards while the offense gained just 112 when factoring in lost yardage from its fumbles.

Harvard buried itself early as the Crimson allowed Brown to convert 8-of-11 3^rd down conversions with six penalties for 44 yards in the opening half compared to no penalties for Brown.

Brown capitalized on each Harvard mistake as the Bears took a 23-0 lead before committing its first real mistake of the game right before halftime.

Following a touchdown that was enabled by a roughing penalty on Harvard, Brown lined up to kick off with 32 seconds left. Brown tried to squib the kick to avoid return man Marco Iannuzzi but the kick hit one of the Harvard up-men and the Crimson fell on the ball with 29 seconds left at the Brown 45. Andrew Hatch needed just four plays to drive the distance, finding Iannuzzi in the end zone on a crisp 21-yard scoring pass to go into halftime trailing 23-7.

In the half, Brown outgained Harvard 214-67 including the late drive. Brown held the ball for 20:05 of the opening half.

Iannuzzi showed why Brown was staying away from him as he struck on the opening kickoff of the second half, taking the kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown and a 23-14 deficit. Following the score, Iannuzzi and Harvard had scored 14 points in a span of 36 seconds.

Brown stopped the momentum however, as Hatch's second interception of the game led to a 44-yard field goal for a 26-14 lead at the 9:28 mark.

With under three minutes to play in the third, Harvard committed another huge mistake as a snap went over the head of Harvard punter Jacob Dombrowski with Brown recovering at Harvard's 22.  Norocea then converted a 35-yarder, his fifth field goal of the game for a 29-14 lead at the end of the quarter.

Harvard's defense held Brown to numerous three-and-outs in the second half but its offense couldn't get on track. More mistakes turned up costly as, with another three-and-out, a roughing penalty on a punt gave Brown a free set of downs with 6:35 to play. The Bears ran the clock down from that point on.

Collin Zych led all defenders with 12 tackles and an interception while Nick Hasselberg had 11 tackles. Iannuzzi finished with five kick returns for 169 yards.
