Shannon Watt took ninth in the discus at the ECAC Championships (Harvard Athletic Communications).
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard track and field team had three student-athletes compete in the first day of action at the ECAC/IC4A Championships and Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.
Sophomore Shannon Watt posted an impressive performance in the discus, hitting a distance of 45.31 (148'08") which was good for third in her flight and ninth out of 26 in the competition. The result also represented a personal best for Watt as she improved on her mark that stands third in school history.
Junior Kailyn Kuzmuk took the track in the 5,000 and turned in a time of 16:57.43, good for 15th in the event. Classmate Nicole Sliva was the final Harvard competitor of the day as she started her two-day competition in the heptathlon. Sliva's best event of the day was the high jump, where her clearance of 1.55 (5'1") earned her a fourth-place result.
Harvard is back in action Saturday at the ECAC and IC4A Championships on Princeton's campus.
