CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With the postseason on the horizon, Harvard track & field looks to continue to find success this weekend from Thursday, Apr. 16 to Saturday, Apr. 18, as the Crimson will feature at the Wake Forest Invitational, the Tom Jones Memorial and the Sean Collier Invitational.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Once again, Harvard stood out away from home, producing key performances at the Spec Towns Invite, Friar Invitational and UMass Commonwealth Invite.
- Sophomore Abigail Dennis enjoyed a breakout performance in the women's 100 hurdles. A native of Maywood, New Jersey, Dennis finished in fifth place, posting a time of 13.42 in the prelims. That time ranks third in school history and fifth in Ivy League history.
- In the women's triple jump, sophomore Saige Forbes became the sixth student-athlete in program history to record a jump of 12.00m or longer in the women's triple jump, as her mark of 12.04m (39'6") ranks sixth all-time in school history.
- An All-America selection in the women's long jump last year, junior Marta Amani ran a personal-best 53.75 in the 400m, a time that ranks fifth in school history.
- With the postseason rapidly approaching, Harvard is primed to send a big group to the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky at the moment.
- The Ivy League's defending champion in the men's 100m, junior Timi Esan is making a name for himself on the national in the 100m this season, as his wind-aided time of 10.15 from the Texas Relays ranks 11th in the east region.
- First-year Tam Gavenas currently ranks 13th in the 5000m after running a 13:41.43 at the Raleigh Relays last month.
- A pair of Crimson rank in the top 25 in the men's 10,000m, as junior Charlie Ortmans currently holds the no. 10 spot (28:29.37) while junior Sam Burgess is 21st (28:55.37).
- Sophomore Ella McRitchie is 12th (4.20m/13'9.25") in the women's pole vault, while junior Lilly Hodge owns the 15th ranking (4.12m/13'6.25").
- The two-time defending Ivy League champion in the women's discus throw, junior Milina Wepiwe is 15th in the women's discus throw this season with an attempt of 53.92m (176'11") at the Texas Relays.
UP NEXT
A pair of meets close out the month of April for Harvard, as the Crimson will compete at the Penn Relays and the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet from Thursday, Apr. 23 to Saturday, Apr. 25.
