CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seven current members of the
Harvard women's hockey team will take part in the upcoming
2012 Women's Under-22 Series Aug. 16-19 in Calgary, Alta. The
series pits the United States against Canada for three games and
will be played for the first time since 2010.
Five current players dot the roster for Team USA, which will be
coached by the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's
Ice Hockey Katey Stone. Defensemen Josephine Pucci and Michelle
Picard will return to action with the U.S. squad while teammate
Marissa Gedman will see her first action with the national team.
Team USA veteran Jillian Dempsey is one of 12 forwards on the
roster, and junior Lyndsey Fry will be making her first appearance
with the U.S. squad. There are seven total players from the ECAC on
the U.S. roster as Cornell and Rensselaer have one representative
each.
Team Canada features two current Harvard players on its roster.
Sarah Edney is one of seven defenders on the roster and returns to
the U-22 team after helping it claim a bronze medal at the MECO Cup
in January in Germany. Edney is joined by top recruit Emerance
Maschmeyer, who is one of just two goalies on the Team Canada
roster. In 2010, Canada swept the United States at the Mastercard
Centre in Toronto.
Play begins Aug. 16 at 9 p.m. (EST) and is followed by games
Aug. 17 (9 p.m.) and Aug. 19 (12 p.m.).
