Williams, Brummitt Awarded Gold Helmets

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth quarterback Dalyn Williams and UMass Dartmouth defensive back Shaquille Brummitt have been awarded New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmets after strong performances Oct. 11.

Williams threw for a career-high 388 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-31 win over Yale to move to 2-0 in Ivy League competition. The junior from Corinth, Texas also rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown in the game. Yale got out to a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter, but touchdown passes from Williams on consecutive drives helped Dartmouth take the lead, 28-24. Yale would manage to regain an advantage at 31-28, and following a Big Green field goal, Williams rushed for the game-winning score from two yards out with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

Brummitt recorded a career-high three interceptions, and broke up an additional pass, in a 37-10 victory at Bridgewater State. The junior from Brookline, Massachusetts picked off Bears quarterback Danny Higgins on each of three-consecutive drives in the fourth quarter to quash any attempt of a comeback. The defensive back returned the interceptions for a combined 20 yards. With the win, UMass Dartmouth moved to 3-3 on the season and remained undefeated away from home.
