CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - No. 1 Harvard men's squash (1-0, 1-0) opened the season today with a 7-2 victory over No. 11 Dartmouth (0-1, 0-1) on the Barnaby Courts. Harvard picked up wins on courts 1-7, dropping only two total sets.
The Crimson made quick work at the top-five positions, all winning in three straight sets. Freshman Madhav Dhingra and Bradley Smith, played at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, confirming the coach's faith in them with swift three-set victories.
Reigning Ivy League Freshman of the Year, Dylan Murray, defeated the Big Green's Alexander Greer, 11-8, 13-11, 11-8, at the No. 3 position.
Captain Tyler Olson and junior Sam Goldberg both played extra sets in their first matches of the season, but pulled out the victories. Olson faced the toughest test of the night, coming out on top after a five-set thriller.
Harvard hits the road this weekend for two early road tests. Saturday, Dec. 6 the Crimson take on St. Lawrence and then Sunday, Dec. 7 Harvard faces off with Rochester.
