The Storyline
The No. 15/15 Harvard football team returns home to face Princeton in a key Ivy League contest at Harvard Stadium Saturday afternoon. The game will be carried live on the American Sports Network and the Ivy League Digital Network and is slated for a 12:05 p.m. kickoff. Harvard heads into the Ancient Eight showdown tied for first place at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Tigers sit at 4-1 and 1-1.

The Crimson, which was the only undefeated team in Division I last season, has won 19-straight games, the second-longest active streak in Division I (Ohio State, 20). Harvard has also won a program-record 13-consecutive Ivy League games. 

Harvard is one of 21 remaining undefeated teams in Division I this fall.

Series History
Saturday's game will be the 108th all-time meeting between Harvard and Princeton with the first game having been played in 1877 (1-0 Harvard win). The Crimson trails the series, 54-46-7, but leads the series since Ivy League play began in 1956 (30-27-2). Despite a two-game winning streak for Princeton against Harvard in 2012-13, the Crimson has taken six of the last eight contests between the Ancient Eight rivals.

 

The Numbers
Harvard quarterback Scott Hosch has thrown 10 touchdown passes, tossed for 1,224 yards (244.8 per game) and owns a completion percentage of 58.8 (80-of-136) this fall. Running back Paul Stanton, Jr. has gained 498 yards (99.6 per game) on the ground and has seven rushing scores, while freshman running back Noah Reimers is second on the team with six TDs. Stanton ranks second in school history with 36 total career touchdowns and 34 rushing scores and is third with 216 career points. The Crimson, which has held opponents to a total of three points in the last three games, is outscoring opponents, 221-40, overall, including 127-13 in the first half of games. Linebacker Jacob Lindsey has a team-high 31 tackles and is tied for first on the squad with Langston Ward with 4.0 tackles for a loss.

Princeton, which is coming off a 38-31 loss at Brown in an Ivy League game Oct. 17, is led by QB Chad Kanoff, who is averaging 214.8 yards per game through the air. The Tigers also utilize multiple running backs, as DiAndre Atwater averages 81.7 yards per contest on the ground, while Joe Rhattigan averaged 69.8. Defensive back Dorian Williams paces the squad with 38 tackles.
 
Last Time Out
The Crimson defense recorded four sacks en route to its second shutout in three games, as Harvard topped Lafayette, 42-0, Oct. 17. Ben Braunecker made six receptions for 123 yards and a TD, while Paul Stanton, Jr., carried the ball 18 times for 123 yards and two scores. Scott Hosch went 17-of-29 for 272 yards and a score. Eric Medes and Langston Ward both finished with 2.0 tackles for a loss, and Harvard broke up 10 passes.
 
Last Year's Meeting
In last year's 49-7 victory for Harvard at Princeton, quarterback Conner Hempel '15 had a career-high 382 yards on 25-of-31 passing, and the Crimson amassed a program record 698 total yards of offense (392 pass, 306 rush). Semar Smith rushed for 124 yards, while Paul Stanton, Jr. added 105 on the ground. Hempel had three passing TDs and two rushing scores.

Going For Three
Harvard has won at least a share of the last two Ivy League titles and is seeking to become the first team to capture three consecutive Ancient Eight titles since Dartmouth (1990-92).

Ivy Win Streak
The Crimson has set a program record by topping 13-straight Ivy League opponents since 2013. The 13-consecutive conference victories are the second longest active streak in Division I (Florida State, 25).
 
The current streak began with the 24-21 win over Dartmouth on Nov. 2, 2013. 

Perfect Start
Scott Hosch is the first quarterback in Harvard history to start his career 11-0. Hosch went 6-0 last year and is 5-0 this season.

Dominant D
Over the last three weeks, the Crimson has held opponents to a total of three points (45-0 win over Georgetown, 40-3 win at Cornell and 42-0 win at Lafayette). This marks the best defensive effort in three-straight games since posting three consecutive shutouts in 1930 (Vermont, 35-0; Coast Guard, 33-0; Springfield, 27-0).
 
Harvard has only allowed 611 total yards over the last three weeks (222 vs. Georgetown, 192 vs. Cornell, 197 vs. Lafayette).
 
Among The Nation's Best
Harvard leads the nation in first downs allowed (70) and zero fumbles lost. The Crimson also stands second in scoring defense (8.0 points allowed per game), third in turnover margin (1.6), fourth in scoring offense (44.2 points per game), fourth in rushing defense (72.6 yards allowed per game) and sixth in punt returns (18.73 yards per return).
 
Scott Hosch ranks eighth in passing yards per completion (15.3), and Ben Braunecker is 10th with a 21.4-yard per reception average.
 
Offense Clicking Early
Harvard has scored 221 points in its first five games this season (41 at Rhode Island, 53 vs. Brown, 45 vs. Georgetown, 40 at Cornell and 42 at Lafayette). This marks the most through five games since it scored a combined 231 points against Dartmouth (W, 48-0), Exeter (W, 62-0), Amherst (W, 26-0), Williams (W, 55-0) and Boston Athletic Association (W, 40-0) to start the 1892 season.
 
Defensive Domination
The Crimson defense surrendered only a total of 40 points through five games (10 at Rhode Island, 27 vs. Brown, 0 vs. Georgetown, 3 at Cornell and 3 at Lafayette). Harvard last gave up that few points in the first five games in 1966 when it surrendered a total of 28 (7 vs. Lafayette, 0 vs. Tufts, 7 at Columbia, 0 vs. Cornell, 13 vs Dartmouth).
 
Harvard has not allowed a touchdown in 188:41 of action (since fourth quarter vs. Brown Sept. 26).
 
Keep On Winning
Harvard has the FCS's longest current winning streak. The Crimson has won 19-straight dating back to its dramatic 24-21 win over Dartmouth at Harvard Stadium Nov. 2, 2013. The current 19-game streak is the fifth longest in team history.

The Crimson's 19-game win streak is the second-longest active Division I (Ohio State, 20).
 
Road Streak
Dating back to the beginning of the 2013 season, Harvard has rattled off 13-consecutive wins on the road, setting a new program record (breaking record set from 1974-77). The streak is the longest in the FCS and third longest in all of Division I (Ohio State, 15; Florida State, 14).
 
The Crimson last lost on the road, 30-21, at Penn Nov. 10, 2012, and has gone more than two full seasons without dropping a game away from Cambridge.
