ALBANY, N.Y. – The ECAC Hockey conference announced its weekly awards for the final week of November Tuesday, with sophomore Merrick Madsen earning the Goaltender of the Week award.
Madsen garners his first career honor from the ECAC, picking up Goaltender of the Week after his dominant performance at the Shillelagh Tournament. The sophomore from Acton, California, made 60-of-61 saves, including 31 in his shutout of Rensselaer in the championship game to earn Tournament MVP. He has notched the win in the opening round against then-No. 18 Notre Dame. He concludes the first month of the season with a 5-0-0 record and three blank sheets. His 0.60 goals-against mark, as well as .979 save percentage are tops in the nation.
Harvard closes out the 2015 calendar year with trips to Union and Rensselaer this weekend. The Crimson will then be off until traveling to Minneapolis to compete in the 25th Annual Mariucci Classic, Jan. 1-2, at the University of Minnesota.
