CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The second-ranked Harvard men's squash team cruised past Tufts, 8-1, on Wednesday night. First-year Marwan Tarek and senior Alexi Gosset played well, both having dominant 3-0 matches.
Tarek played at the top position, surpassing Tufts junior Raghav Kumar, 11-1, 11-2, 11-2. Sophomore Samuel Scherl, who played at No. 2, and first-year George Crowne, who was slotted third on Harvard's ladder, both earned three-game victories against the Jumbos.
Senior Theodore Mendez, junior Sean Hughes and sophomore John Finley Ong all added three-game sweeps of their own.
Harvard Highlights:
- Tarek earned his first collegiate victory after he allowed only five points in his match to his Tufts opponent.
- Crowne continued his strong play from the season opener, starting the match with two dominating 11-3 games before ultimately earning a three-game victory.
- Hughes controlled his match, emerging victorious in three games, including an 11-3 effort in the final frame.
- Harvard improved its all-time record against Tufts to 15-0.
