CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Harvard women's hockey team (8-4-0, 7-0-0 ECAC Hockey) earned its second victory over a top-10 team this season, upsetting No. 9/9 Boston College (11-7-2, 10-5-1 Hockey East), 7-1, in a New Year's Eve clash at Conte Forum. The Crimson put up three unanswered goals in the opening frame to bury the Eagles early. Eleven different players marked the scoresheet including nine of 12 forwards. Six players registered multi-point outings while Lindsay Reed stopped 45 shots on goal from the hosts. 

Anne Bloomer kicked off the scoring frenzy on a tally just 1:25 into the opening frame with an assist from Shannon Hollands, her first career point. Later in the period after Boston College took a hooking penalty, Kristin Della Rovere scored her second power-play goal in as many games just six seconds into the opportunity right off the faceoff from Dominique Petrie at 9:04. Then, at 10:07, Kat Hughes scored her first of the game on a one-two-three play from Becca Gilmore and Courtney Hyland. 

During the second period, Harvard killed off four minutes of Eagles power-play time, Lindsay Reed made 17 saves and with less than three minutes on the clock, Kat Hughes notched her second goal on a Gilmore rebound. 

Petrie increased the damage 4:19 into the final frame but Boston College finally responded to deny Reed the shutout at 7:42. That would be the final word from the Eagles as Petrie and Della Rovere sealed the final score at 7-1.

• Harvard scored three goals in the first period for the fourth time this season. The Crimson also put up a trio of goals in the opening frame against Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale.
