CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore forward
John Farinacci and sophomore defenseman
Henry Thrun were among 25 players named to the final roster of the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team, USA Hockey announced today (Dec. 12).
Farinacci and Thrun will represent the United States in the 2021 World Junior Championship set for Edmonton, Alberta, from Dec. 25, 2020 – Jan. 5, 2021.
Farinacci, a native of Red Bank, N.J., was one of the top scoring rookies in ECAC Hockey, earning ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team honors. He recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 31 games played. In conference play, Farinacci was No. 3 among first-years with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 22 games.
Thrun, a finalist for ECAC Hockey's Best Defensive Defenseman award, and an ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team honoree, was fantastic in his first year with the Crimson. He led the team with a plus-17 rating, and recorded 21 points (three goals, 18 point) in 31 games.
Additionally, Ted Donato, The Robert D. Ziff '88 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Ice Hockey will serve as an assistant coach, making his first appearance on the coaching staff of a U.S. National Junior Team. Donato has represented the United States as a player on several occasions. The Scituate, Mass. native played on the 1988 U.S. National Junior Team in Moscow and was also a member of Team USA in the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, France. In addition, Donato played in three IIHF Men's World Championships, serving as captain in 1997 and also representing the U.S. at the event in 1999 and 2002.
