Women's Basketball Suffers 66-45 Setback at No. 25 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard women's basketball team (14-8, 5-4 Ivy League) suffered a 66-45 setback to No. 25 Princeton (20-1, 8-0 Ivy League) tonight, Feb. 21, at Jadwin Gymnasium.

Junior Maddie Stuhlreyer led the Crimson's offense with a career-high 11 points. Senior Jeannie Boehm followed closely behind with eight points, while sophomore Maggie McCarthy and first-year Lola Mullaney each tallied seven. Levy paced the defense with a team-best seven rebounds and McCarthy added three steals.

Princeton jumped out to a 9-2 advantage to begin the game. Boehm and McCarthy dropped in five points to bring the Crimson within two, before the Tigers closed the quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 17-7 opening lead.

Princeton upped its advantage to 17 at the start of quarter two. A 7-2 run from the Crimson that featured six points from Stuhlreyer and triples from Mullaney and Sara Park brought Harvard within eight at 29-21, until the Tigers once again widened its margin to 12 to take a 33-21 lead into halftime.  

The two teams started the second half with back-and-forth action that allowed the Tigers to maintain a 15-point lead. Princeton's defense held the Crimson to just four baskets in the third quarter, heading into the final frame up 45-29.

Levy halted a 5-0 run from Princeton at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a triple and layup. The Tigers' offense continued to pack on the pressure throughout the closing frame, eventually sealing the victory at 66-45.
