CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball will travel to Croatia and Greece from August 9-19 as part of its 2026 foreign tour. Throughout the 10-day trip, the Crimson will hit four stops enjoying the sights and cultural experiences across the countries.
"This foreign tour is going to be an incredible experience for our team; one that is a first for our program since 2018 and a first for me as a head coach," said
Carrie Moore, the Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach for Harvard Women's Basketball, the Ragatz Family Harvard Coach of Excellence.
During the trip, the team will hit four major cities: Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia followed by Athens and Glyfada in Greece. The Crimson's trip has an additional special meaning as it will serve as a homecoming for junior guard,
Lydia Chatira, who hails from Pikermi, Greece.
Harvard's trip will begin with its travel day on August 9, ultimately arriving in Split on August 10. The Crimson will spend three days in Split, participating in tours of the city's local attractions, visiting a local orphanage, enjoying Croatian cuisine, and competing in its first international game.
The Crimson will then travel to Dubrovnik on August 13 where it will visit the city's iconic rooftop court in Old Town. At its second stop in Croatia, the team will also embark on a guided tour detailing the filming locations of the HBO original show, Game of Thrones.
Harvard will spend another day exploring Dubrovnik before traveling to Athens on August 15. Upon arriving in Greece, the Crimson will have free time in the neighborhood of Plaka before bussing to the Chatira family home for the night.
The Crimson will spend its second day in Athens on the water, enjoying a private boat tour and taking in the sights of the city from the Saronic Gulf.
The following day, August 17, Harvard will tour the historic Acropolis in the morning before competing in its second and final international contest. At the conclusion of the game, the Crimson will bus to its final destination, Glyfada.
Harvard will spend its final day in the sun, enjoying the beach and pool in the seaside suburb along the Saronic Gulf.
The Crimson's unforgettable trip will conclude on August 19 as it departs Glyfada to travel back to Cambridge.
"Our team will benefit greatly from the time spent together on and off the court in these two fascinating countries," continued Moore. "We're excited to travel the world together, meet Lydia's family and experience the Greek culture firsthand, and represent Harvard University internationally."
