Women’s Squash’s Stefanoni Wins Gold at Junior Pan American Games

CALI, Colombia – Marina Stefanoni, a sophomore on the Harvard women's squash team, brought home the gold medal at this year's Junior Pan-American Games, navigating her way through the 19-player women's bracket without dropping a single game.

Stefanoni defeated Mexico's Dina Anguiano in the tournament final, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4, to secure her spot atop the podium.

The win comes just over a week after Stefanoni captured her fourth U.S. Junior Squash Championship, tying her for the most such titles all-time.

Serena Daniel, a teammate of Stefanoni at Harvard, also participated in the international event, reaching the quarterfinal round before eventually being eliminated by Anguiano in five sets.

Daniel and Stefanoni also helped lead the United States to the gold in the team event, where they defeated Mexico in the final.

The Junior Pan-American Games are held every four years for athletes between the ages of 17-22 and feature squash singles, doubles and team events.
