Women’s Basketball Takes Down Northeastern, 75-43

Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Behind 21 points from sophomore Lola Mullaney, the Harvard women's basketball team (4-6, 0-0 Ivy League) claimed a dominant victory over Northeastern (6-4, 0-0 CAA) on the road today, Dec. 19.
 
Three Crimson players recorded double-digit points today. Following Mullaney with 21, first-year Harmoni Turner nearly reached the 20-point mark as well with 19, while junior Annie Stritzel posted 13. Mullaney and Turner each registered three triples against the Huskies. Turner notched her first double-double of her career, leading the way defensively with 12 rebounds. Junior Tess Sussman added six boards, while Stritzel tallied five steals.
 
Harvard and Northeastern traded baskets to open the game, with buckets from Mullaney and Turner. Mullaney then knocked down back-to-back triples to push the Crimson ahead 12-6, before Turner tallied a three-pointer of her own. Harvard remained sharp from behind the arc, as Turner and Mullaney added two more triples to help the Crimson take a 23-12 lead to begin the game.
 
A triple from Sussman and a basket from Maddie Stuhlreyer extended the Crimson's lead to 28-14 to start the second quarter. Stritzel notched two consecutive layups to help Harvard maintain a 16-point lead. Northeastern came within 11 at 34-23 in the closing minutes of the half, before Mullaney recorded three more buckets to reach 17 points. The Crimson took a 40-23 advantage into halftime.
 
The Crimson's sharp shooting continued in quarter three, with two consecutive triples from Sussman and Turner to open the frame. A jumper from Stuhlreyer widened Harvard's margin to 20 at 50-30 midway through the quarter. Two consecutive baskets from Mullaney and a layup from Turner in the closing minutes helped build another 20-point lead for the Crimson at 56-36 heading into the final frame.
 
Stritzel came alive in the fourth quarter, knocking down eight points before the midway point. Sara Park came off the bench to drain two triples, while Elle Stauffer added a basket as well. A strong offensive surge and dominant defense kept Northeastern at bay, as Harvard sealed a 75-43 victory.
 
Harvard Highlights
- Harvard shot 29-for-65 from the field (44.6 percent) and 10-for-24 from three-point range (41.7 percent), while holding Northeastern to 4-for-19 shooting on triples.
- The Crimson knocked down five first quarter three-pointers, three from Mullaney and two from Turner.
- Harvard dished out 18 assists, with a team-best five from both Stritzel and Turner.
- The Crimson recorded 14 steals, including three from McKenzie Forbes
