Brate Catches Three Passes in Super Bowl LV Victory

TAMPA BAY, Fla. -- Former Harvard football standout Cameron Brate '14 caught three passes for 26 yards to help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earn a 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl LV Sunday evening at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. The Buccaneers were the first team in NFL history to play and win the Super Bowl at their home stadium.

The seventh-year NFL tight end became the fourth Crimson alumnus to become a Super Bowl champion, joining John Dockery '66 (Super Bowl III), Jamil Soriano '03 (XXXVIII) and Matt Birk '98 (Super Bowl XLVII) . Brate had three receptions for 26 yards, including a long of 15 yards in the victory. Brate is the sixth former Harvard standout to play in the NFL's biggest game, including the second in as many years. Brate joined Dockery, Birk, Pat McInally '75 (Super Bowl XVI), Isaiah Kacyvenski '00 (Super Bowl XL) and Kyle Juszczyk '13 (Super Bowl LIV) in the exclusive club.

Brate scored the game-winning touchdown on an eight-yard pass in the Buccaneers' 31-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game Jan. 24. Over the course of the postseason, Brate has made 14 receptions for 175 yards and the one TD.

Brate played in all 16 regular season games for the 2020 NFC champions and made two touchdown catches, giving him 29 for his career. He finished with 28 receptions for 282 yards overall, as he has amassed 223 catches and 2,438 yards over the course of his career. He has played in all 16 regular season games in four-consecutive seasons and has spent his entire NFL career in Tampa Bay.

While at Harvard, Brate, who hails from Naperville, Illinois, helped the Crimson win the Ivy League crown in 2011 and 2013. Brate was a three-time All-Ivy selection and a three-time All-American.
