CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Harvard men's heavyweight rowers Liam Corrigan '19, John Harrity '18 and Alexander Richards '18 are set to compete for the United States in the Men's Eight A-Final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The race is slated for tonight, Thursday, July 29, at 9:25 p.m. ET.
The trio helped the Americans reach the medal regatta with its effort in the repechage. After coming in second place during the heat stages (5:30.57), the U.S. boat rebounded in the repechage, clocking in at 5:23.43, behind New Zealand (5:22.04) and Great Britain (5:23.32).
The United States is scheduled to be in Lane 1 and will be flanked by New Zealand in Lane 2. The rest of the field includes Germany (Lane 3), Netherlands (Lane 4), Great Britain (Lane 5) and Australia (Lane 6).
On Wednesday night, Sam Hardy '18 and Josh Hicks '13 completed their Olympic journey by rowing in the Men's Pair B-Final. The duo crossed the finish line in 6:30.20 to place fourth, trailing only Netherlands (6:22.75), Belarus (6:25.88) and France (6:28.01). Italy (6:31.43) and New Zealand (6:38.30) rounded out the field.
