CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's basketball team has announced its 2022 Ivy League schedule. The 14-game slate features three consecutive home games to open Ivy action and finishes with the Crimson closing with three of four at Lavietes Pavilion before playing host to the conference tournament.
The Ivy League is debuting its new format, which represents the first season that conference play will be over the course of 10 weeks rather than the traditional eight-week slate. The new format continues to prioritize and balance the time needed for student-athletes to succeed both in the classroom and on the court.
Under the new structure, there will be six one-opponent weekends and three of the league's signature back-to-back weekends during conference play. Each team will also have a contest on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Harvard opens its Ivy League schedule with the aforementioned trio of home games on Jan. 2 against Princeton. Five days later, the Crimson will face Brown and Yale at Lavietes on Jan. 7 and 8, respectively, before hitting the road to take on Columbia (Jan. 15), Dartmouth on MLK Day (Jan. 17) and Cornell (Jan. 22).
The Crimson finishes the first half of the Ivy season at home vs. Penn (Jan. 29), before embarking on another three-game road trip to Brown (Feb. 4), Yale (Feb. 5) and Penn (Feb. 12).
After spending a majority of the conference campaign on the road, Harvard will end the slate by playing three of its last four contests at Lavietes Pavilion. Columbia and Cornell will visit Cambridge on Feb. 18 and 19, respectively, with Harvard set for a quick trip to Princeton on Feb. 26. The Crimson will put a lid on the regular-season by welcoming Dartmouth on March 5.
The following week, with the Ivy League's automatic NCAA berth on the line, Harvard will play host to the 2022 Ivy League Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments. The event is slated for March 11-13 at Lavietes Pavilion.
Harvard Athletics will provide more detailed information regarding fan attendance for 2021-22 home contests in the coming weeks. Fans interested in attending Harvard road games should check for similar information on the opponents' websites prior to the contest.
