CALGARY, Alberta – Harvard women's hockey alumna, Emerance Maschmeyer '16, recently helped propel Team Canada to the gold medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship in Calgary, Alberta.
In the gold medal game, Canada secured a 3-2 win over the United States in a 3-on-3 overtime format. This is Canada's first gold medal win in the IIHF since 2012 and ended a five-year run from the United States.
During the tournament, Maschmeyer appeared in contests against Switzerland and Germany, recording shutouts through all 120 minutes against both squads.
In her four years at Harvard, the Bruderheim, Alberta native was a two-time Patty Kazmaier Award nominee, earned multiple ECAC Hockey and Ivy League accolades and currently holds the program record for career saves (2,538). She graduated with a degree in Sociology and was a member of Quincy House.
