Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Harvard football team dashed for 335 yards and four touchdowns on the ground to earn 44-9 victory on the road in the season opener at Georgetown Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field.

Aaron Shampklin led Harvard with 183 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, the Crimson recorded 6.0 sacks, including 2.0 each by
Nate Leskovec and
Jacob Sykes. Harvard (1-0) also held Georgetown (1-1) to a total of six rushing yards.

Harvard got the scoring started with
Aidan Borguet's 56-yard dash to the endzone just 1:26 into the contest, as the Crimson got an early 7-0 lead. Later in the first quarter,
Charlie Dean, making his first career start at quarterback, found first-year
Kaedyn Odermann for a 31-yard TD strike. The ensuing extra point was blocked and returned by Georgetown's Jovone Campbell all the way for 70 yards for a defensive PAT, as Harvard led the Hoyas, 13-2.

With 4:51 left in the opening frame, Georgetown inched closer on a 15-yard TD pass from Joseph Brunell to Joshua Thomas, making it 13-9. Harvard answered with an 8-play, 75-yard scoring drive, culminating with a 36-yard TD run by Shampklin, upping the Crimson's lead to 20-9.

In the second,
Jonah Lipel converted a 42-yard field-goal attempt with 10:59 remaining in the first half, making it a 23-9 contest. Shampklin added his second rushing score of the game, a 50-yarder with 6:44 left in the second, as Harvard added to its lead, 30-9.

In the second half, following an interception return by
Daniel Abraham to the Georgetown 7, Dean connected with
Adam West for a 5-yard passing TD, 37-9. Harvard tacked on another score with 12:23 remaining in the fourth when quarterback
Luke Emge ran into the endzone for a six-yard score, 44-9.
