What to Know
• Tim Murphy, The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football, has tied Yale's Carm Cozza (179) for most wins for a coach at an Ivy League school. A win over the Bears would move Murphy into sole possession of first place.
• In its 44-9 victory at Georgetown, Harvard outrushed the Hoyas by a 335-6 margin. The Crimson defense finished with 6.0 sacks, including two each by Nate Leskovec and Jacob Sykes. Aaron Shampklin carried the ball 14 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns, as the Crimson finished with four rushing TDs overall.
• This week's game will be Harvard's 1,334th varsity football game. The Crimson has an all-time record of 880-403-50 (.679).
Aaron Shampklin, who led the Ivy League in rushing in 2018, has rushed for 1,599 yards and 14 TDs in his career. Shampklin had 183 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Harvard's season-opening win at Georgetown.
• In its 26 years under Tim Murphy, the Crimson is 21-5 (.808) in its Ivy League openers since 1994.
• Senior linebacker Jordan Hill is the 147th captain of Harvard football, which elects just one each season.
• Harvard has won 16 of the last 20 season openers (.800) and is an impressive 120-25-2 (.823) all-time in the first game of the season. Under Tim Murphy, the Crimson is 19-8 (.704) on opening day.
• In Harvard's 44-9 win at Georgetown, the Crimson scored four touchdowns in plays of 31 yards or longer. Aaron Shampklin had rushing TDs of 36 and 59 yards, while Aidan Borguet dashed for a 56-yard score on the ground. Kaedyn Odermann also caught a 31-yard TD pass from Charlie Dean.

At The Helm
• In his 27th season, Harvard's all-time winningest head coach, Tim Murphy, enters this week's game with a 179-81 record with the Crimson and a 211-126-1 overall head coaching record, which includes five years at Cincinnati and two years at Maine. Since the formation of the Ivy League in 1956, only one Ivy coach (Yale's Carm Cozza) has compiled as many wins as Murphy's 179, and he is just one of 11 coaches to win 100-plus games. Murphy also owns 124 Ivy League wins, third-most all-time. Murphy has led Harvard to nine Ivy championships (1997, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015).

Up Next
• Harvard will head back on the road to visit Patriot League rival Holy Cross Saturday, Oct. 2 for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
