PHILADEPHIA, Pa. – In a rematch of the 2020 Men's Team Championships Final, No. 2 Harvard (5-1, 2-1 Ivy) was tripped up by No. 1 Penn (10-0, 1-0 Ivy) on Saturday in a hard-fought battle between two of the country's premier programs. The loss snaps a 38-match win streak for the Crimson which dated back to the 2017-18 CSA Team Championship Finals.
Harvard jumped out to an early lead courtesy of victories at the first and fourth singles positions by senior
Victor Crouin and junior
George Crowne, but the Quakers pulled even with wins by Yash Bhargava at seven singles and Roger Alber Baddour at nine singles.
Continuing the top of the ladder's strong performance, senior
Samuel Scherl brought Harvard back in front with a 3-1 triumph over James Flynn at three singles.
The remaining four matches, however, would all break in Penn's favor. Aly Abou El Einen notched the decisive fifth point for the home team playing against
Marwan Tarek in what was a rematch of the 2020 CSA Men's Individual Championships Final.
