No. 2 Men’s Squash Picks Up Convincing Ivy Win Over No. 6 Columbia, 8-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 2 Harvard (8-1, 4-1 Ivy) put on a solid showing in the team's return home, knocking off No. 6 Columbia (6-4, 0-3 Ivy), 8-1, on Saturday in what was the team's first match at the Murr Center Squash Courts since Dec. 1. 
 
The Crimson won the day's first five matches to clinch the victory early on with junior Marwan Tarek registering the decisive fifth point. From there, Harvard would take three of the remaining four matches, bringing the final tally to 8-1 in favor of the home team. 
 

Harvard Highlights / Match Notes 

  • Samuel Scherl (8-0) and George Crowne (6-0) each remain unbeaten individually this season.  
  • Harvard is now 4-1 this season in matches against top-10 opponents. 
  • Playing at numbers one and two, Victor Crouin and Marwan Tarek each dropped only 14 points in their matches, tied for the fewest on the team. 
  • All nine of the day's matches finished with a 3-0 score line. Harvard outscored the Lions 24-3 in games. 
  • Harvard moves to 12-1 vs. Columbia all-time.

Next Up

Harvard is back at the Murr Center Squash Courts tomorrow when it will host both Cornell and Amherst. The match against the Big Red will get under way at 11 a.m., while the Crimson will face the Mammoths at 5 p.m. Both contests can be seen on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
