CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard men's and women's fencing has released their schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The Crimson will begin the season on the road at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado for the Air Force Western Invitational, taking place on Nov. 5 – Nov. 6.
The Crimson will then return to Cambridge, Mass. on Nov. 16, but down the road at MIT for the Beanpot.
Harvard will compete in the Ivy League Championships, hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, New York, on Feb. 11 – Feb. 12.
Harvard will host the NCAA Regionals on March 12 and compete in the NCAA Championship in Durham, N.C. from March 23 – March 26.
Harvard women's fencing will compete in 28 total head-to-head matches with other schools. Of those 28 matches, 26 will be against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last year.
Harvard men's fencing will compete in 26 total head-to-head matches with other schools. Of those 26 matches, 24 will be against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last year.
The Crimson, both men and women, had an extremely successful season last year. Harvard men's fencing finished second in the NCAA after a historic performance in the NCAA Championships where the Crimson only had 11 out of a possible 12 fencers competing. For their performance, the team won the USFCA Men's Team of the Year.
Harvard women's fencing finished fifth in the NCAA.
Elizabeth Tartakovsky earned an NCAA national championship in women's sabre while
Emily Vermeule placed second in women's epee. Tartakovsky was also named National Collegiate Women's Sabre Athlete of the Year.
Harvard recorded two individual NCAA national champions for the first time in program history behind
Filip Dolegiewicz in men's sabre and
Elizabeth Tartakovsky in women's sabre. The Crimson has now totaled 13 individual NCAA national champions in program history.
