Men’s Soccer Hosts Dartmouth on Saturday in Regular Season Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer hosts Dartmouth College for Senior Day in its regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Jordan Field, with the Crimson bringing a seven-game unbeaten streak into the contest.

What to Know

  • The Crimson will honor the nine members of its senior class – No. 0 David Paquette, No. 1 Gianluca Trofa, No. 7 Nico Garcia-Morillo, No. 11 Martin Vician, No. 12 Galen Lewis, No. 13 Duncan Sutherland, No. 16 Sam Pratt, No. 24 Loic Tagne, and No. 99 Oskar Nilsson – prior to Saturday's game for their dedication to the program.
  • Harvard has posted an undefeated 4-0-3 record over its last six games, including a 2-0-3 mark in Ivy League play. The Crimson has posted a 2-0-1 mark at home and 2-0-2 record on the road during the stretch.
  • At Jordan Field, Harvard has posted a 6-1-1 in its eight home matches this year.
  • Harvard checks in at No. 45 in the NCAA RPI as of Nov. 6, climbing from No. 75 in the initial rankings on Oct. 9. As a conference, the Ivy League stands as the No. 5 league in the nation behind only the Pac-12 (No. 1), ACC (No. 2), and AAC (No. 3), and Sun Belt (No. 4). The Crimson ranks No. 43 in strength of schedule and holds two wins over RPI 1-50 teams (No. 15 Penn, No. 48 Yale).
  • The Ivy League features a pair of teams in the top 15 in the RPI in Cornell (No. 8) and Penn (No. 15) alongside another four teams in the top 100 in Harvard (No. 45), Yale (No. 48), Princeton (No. 71), and Brown (No. 84).
  • Sophomore Alessandro Arlotti earned Ivy League Player of the Week, and first-year Ethan Veghte gained Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 31 after the Crimson topped then No. 15 Penn, 3-2, on Oct. 29. Arlotti scored the game-tying goal in the 72nd minute and assisted on the game-winning goal in the 85th minute while Veghte scored an equalizing goal in the 22nd minute to make the score 1-1 and assisted on another equalizer in the 72nd minute to knot the score at 2-2.
  • Junior forward Ale Gutierrez earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors on Oct. 24 after scoring the game-winning goals in both of the Crimson's victories in the prior week. Gutierrez scored game-winning goals in wins over both Yale (2-1) and Holy Cross (5-0) with his game-winner against the Bulldogs coming in the 90th minute. For the week, he totaled three goals and an assist for seven points.
  • Harvard has totaled four student-athletes with double-figure points this season. Thus far in 2022, sophomore Alessandro Arlotti (16 points),  junior Willem Ebbinge (15 points), junior Ale Gutierrez (13 points), and senior Martin Vician (13 points) have all crossed the double-figure threshold. Last season, Vician (19), Ebbinge (14), Arlotti (25), and Cornelius Bencsik (12) all reached double-figure point totals.
  • Junior Willem Ebbinge paces the program in assists (nine) and ranks second in points (15) on three goals and nine assists. Ebbinge stands first in the conference in assists and seventh in points. He has notched points in 11 of his 15 games played this season. In Ivy play, he leads the league in assists (four). Ebbinge ranks fifth in the NCAA in assists per game (0.60).
  • Junior Ale Gutierrez leads the Crimson in goals (six) and game-winning goals (four), while ranking third with 13 points. He stands 10th in the NCAA in game-winning goals (four). He registered his first career brace vs. Holy Cross and scored the game-winner in the 90th minute vs. Yale.
  • Sophomore Alessandro Arlotti ranks second in the Ivy League in assists (eight) and fifth in points (16), while adding four goals. In. Ivy play, he ranks third in the league in points (seven).
  • For the season, senior Martin Vician paces the team in goals (six) and ranks third in points (13). He scored back-to-back braces in games against Northeastern and Quinnipiac. Vician netted the game-winning goal in the 85th minute in the Crimson's 3-2 victory over No. 15 Penn.
  • Sophomore Marko Isakovic has posted seven assists on the season, ranking fourth in the Ivy League. In Ivy play, he leads the conference in assists (four).
  • A total of 19 different players have tallied points for Harvard on the season. The Crimson tallied 10 players with points in both its 6-0 win over Fairfield (Sept. 24) and its 5-0 win over Holy Cross (Oct. 18).
  • As a team, Harvard has established advantages in shots (2264-198), shots on goal (123-75), and corner kicks (109-76) on the year. For the year, Harvard has posted double-figure shots in 12 of 16 games and tallied 20 or more shots in each of five contests.
  • Harvard's goalkeepers have posted a 1.31 goals-against average and five shutouts this season. Senior goalie Oskar Nilsson has notched a 1.49 GAA and two clean sheets over 13 games started, and first-year Cullen MacNeil has posted a 0.67 GAA and two shutouts in three games started.
  • In the NCAA rankings, the Crimson stands third in assists per game (3.00), 12th in corner kicks per game (6.81), 12th in points per game (7.25), 24th in goals per game (2.12), sixth in shots per game (16.50), and fifth in shots on goal per game (7.69).
  • The Crimson scored twice in the final 25 minutes behind goals from sophomore Ludovico Rollo and junior James Fahmy to rally from a 2-0 deficit and earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Princeton on Nov. 5.
  • Harvard scored twice in the final 19 minutes behind goals from sophomore Alessandro Arlotti and senior Martin Vician to rally and defeat No. 15 Penn, 3-2, on Oct. 29 at Jordan Field.
  • Sophomore Ludovico Rollo scored an equalizing goal in the 75th minute, and junior Ale Gutierrez netted the game-winning goal in the 90th minute in Harvard's comeback 2-1 win over Yale on Oct. 22.
  • Junior Ale Gutierrez scored a pair of goals, and senior Nico Garcia-Morillo, sophomore Sam Bjarnason, and first-year Matus Vician each netted a goal as Harvard defeated Holy Cross, 5-0, on Oct. 18 in its non-league finale.
  • Junior Ale Gutierrez scored the game-winning goal, first-year goalkeeper Cullen MacNeil posted his first collegiate shutout, and Harvard beat BU, 1-0, on Oct. 4 in its final road non-league game of the year.
  • The Crimson totaled six goals in a 6-0 win over Fairfield on Sept. 24. Six different Crimson – senior Ale Gutierrez, junior Willem Ebbinge, sophomore Marko Isakovic, junior Nik White, senior Martin Vician, and first-year Matus Vician – netted a goal in the game. The six goals marked Harvard's most in a game since a 6-0 win over Penn on Nov. 14, 2015. A total of 10 Harvard players registered points in the contest.
  • First-year Matus Vician earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 26 after posting four points on a goal and two assists in the Crimson's 6-0 victory over Fairfield. The points marked the first of Vician's collegiate career.
  • Harvard earned a 3-1 win over Quinnipiac on Sept. 17 behind senior Martin Vician's second straight brace alongside a goal from senior Ale Gutierrez.
  • Harvard pulled out a dramatic victory against Bryant as senior Nico Garcia-Morillo scored the game-winning goal with 2.5 seconds remaining to lift the Crimson to a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs at Jordan Field on Sept. 6.
  • Harvard opened its 2022 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Central Connecticut State in its home opener on Sept. 3. Sophomore Alessandro Arlotti and junior Willem Ebbinge provided the goals while senior goalkeeper Oskar Nilsson recorded the shutout.
  • Harvard leads Dartmouth in the all-time series, 45-39-10.
  • The Crimson and the Big Green enter the contest tied for third in the Ivy League standings with nine points apiece. Dartmouth has notched a 3-3-0 mark in conference play and a 6-6-3 record overall.
