Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Harvard women's hockey earned their second win of the season in a shutout 2-0 victory against Cornell. The Crimson (2-4-2, 2-4-2) got goals from Kristin Della-Rovere and
Jade Arnone and 30 saves from
Alex Pellicci.
In the first period, both the Crimson and Big Red had scoring opportunities, but the period ended with the teams deadlocked at zero. Pellicci had ten saves and the Crimson had 15 shots on goal in the period.
The second period was all Harvard. Just over halfway through the second,
Kristin Della Rovere scored the first goal of the game, putting one home off a rebound from
Gabi Davidson Adams' shot, giving the Crimson a 1-0 lead. The goal was Della Rovere's fourth of the year and Davidson Adams' first assist of the season. Gwynn Lapp also assisted on the goal.
The Crimson killed two big red power plays and Pellicci recorded another 10 saves in the period to keep the Big Red scoreless.
In the third, the Crimson did not concede when Cornell had a 5-3 opportunity. Then, halfway through the period, Harvard extended the lead to two when
Jade Arnone scored a wrister from the top left corner, assisted by
Jenna MacDonald and
Paige Lester. The goal was Arnone's first goal in her collegiate career as the Crimson now led 2-0.
Pellicci's 10 third period saves sealed the shutout, her second of the season, as Harvard defeated Cornell 2-0.
