Bronte-May Brough Named Ivy League Rookie of the Year; Seven Earn All-Ivy Field Hockey Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – First-year defender Bronte-May Brough was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, one of seven from Harvard field hockey honored with year-end awards, the conference announced today (Nov. 8).
 
Brough was one of three Harvard players to earn First Team All-Ivy League honors, as first-year midfielder Kitty Chapple and senior goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo also were first team selections. Brough and Chapple were unanimous selections by the league coaches.
 
Sophomore midfielder Emily Guckian earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors. Additionally,
Senior forward Olivia Hoover, junior defender Siofra Murdoch, and first-year forward Kate Oliver earned All-Ivy League Honorable Mention.
 
In addition, Shahbo was named Harvard's Academic All-Ivy selection.
 
Brough started all games at the heart of the Crimson defense. She helped Harvard become the top unit in the Ivy League in terms of goals allowed (18 goals, 0.99/per game) A three-time Ivy league Defensive Player of the Week selection, Bronte finished the season tied for first in the Ivy League in goals scored (12).
 
Chapple was a force on both ends of the field for the Crimson, recording six assists on the season as one of the quickest members of the team.
 
Shahbo, a senior captain, was excellent in net once again for Harvard, notching five shutouts on the season, starting all 17 games, and recording the 4th best goals against average in the nation (0.99).
 
Guckian had her best offensive season, recording 15 points (two goals, 11 assists), leading the Ivy League in assists. She was a key piece of Harvard's strong defensive unit as well.
 
Hoover, a senior captain, notched a career best four goals on the season, and had three game-winning goals, tied for first in the Ivy League.
 
Murdoch finished second on the team with five goals on the year, and had 12 points (five goals, two assists) overall. She notched two game-winning OT goals on the year, including a penalty stroke to defeat No. 24 Cornell on Oct. 29.
 
Olivier was impactful up front in her first season of collegiate field hockey, notching eight points (two goals, four assists) on the year.
