Box Score Cambridge, Mass. - In their final non-conference game of the 2022-23 season, the Harvard women's basketball team (7-5) defeated Boston University (5-6) in Boston, 73-58.
Harmoni Turner and Elena Rodriguez accounted for 49 of the Crimson's points, with Turner scoring 28 to lead the team and Rodriguez scoring 21 to tie her career-high in points. Turner pulled down 10 rebounds, posting her first double-double of the Crimson's 2022-23 season.
Turner scored the first seven points on the night for the Crimson, as the Crimson and Terriers traded baskets for five ties in the first ten minutes of play, ending the first quarter tied at 15 with Harvard points coming from Turner, Elena Rodriguez and Saniyah Glenn-Bello.
Rodriguez scored four points in the first minute and a half of the second quarter, followed by Turner's 10th point on the night to make her the first player to hit double digits. The Crimson built on this strong start in the second quarter to outscore the Terriers 22-11 and secure an 11 point lead going into the half, shooting 64.7% over Boston's 38.5%.
Turner scored the first Crimson points of the second half with a layup in minute two, adding to her 16 from the first half to close out the third quarter with 22 points. Holding the lead throughout the quarter, Harvard scored four second-chance points over Boston University's two to end quarter three up 53-43.
Harvard closed out the game by out-rebounding the Terriers 12 to eight in the final ten minutes of play, as Elena Rodriguez surpassed 20 points to tie her career high points scored in the final minutes of play. The Crimson pulled off a 15-point victory ending the game 73-58.
