No. 2 Men’s Squash Reaches Potter Cup Final with 7-2 Win Over No. 6 Columbia

PHILADELPHIA. – No. 2 Harvard (14-1) is now just one win away from a third straight National Championship. The Crimson will return to the Potter Cup finals for the fifth consecutive season after taking down No. 6 Columbia (9-7) by a score of 7-2 in Saturday's semifinal round at Penn Squash Center. 
 
Marwan Tarek got Harvard out of the gates quickly with a 3-0 sweep of Columbia's Callen Hall at No. 2. Ido Burstein then followed with an identical score line at No. 6 before Tate Harms closed the opening wave with an impressive 3-2 win at No. 8. Harms finished with a surge, winning the fourth and fifth games 11-2, 11-3, after trailing 2-1. 
 
The Crimson was able to clinch the victory early with two more points from Victor Crouin and George Crowne, who each won their respective matches 3-0. 
 
Samuel Scherl and Adam Corcoran added to Harvard's total with wins at Nos. 3 and 5 in the final wave. 

Harvard Highlights / Match Notes 

  • With the win, Harvard advances to the Potter Cup Final for the fifth consecutive season. The Crimson has won the last two CSA Men's Team Championships. 
  • Harvard has won its last eight Potter Cup matches and is now 24-8 under head coach Mike Way in the event. 
  • Harvard's Victor Crouin lost only 11 points in his 3-0 sweep at No. 1. It was the fewest points dropped by any Crimson player on the day. 
  • Harvard outscored the Lions 21-9 in games. 
  • The Crimson remains perfect at the third and fourth positions this year, improving its record to a combined 30-0. 
  • Harvard moves to 13-1 vs. Columbia all-time and 2-0 against the Lions this season.
