CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Securing its fourth ranked win of the season, the No. 13 Harvard men's tennis team cruised past Vanderbilt on Friday, Feb. 25, by a score of 6-1.
Starting off with doubles play, while Vanderbilt struck first, taking the second seeded match 6-2, the Crimson rebounded swiftly and decisively to capture the first and third seeded matches by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 respectively. Harvard secured a 1-0 Harvard lead going into singles.
The Crimson carried that momentum into singles play, making swift work of its Vanderbilt opponents. Taking down all of its competition in straight sets, Harvard claimed the fourth, third, second, sixth and first seeded matches in quick succession to secure an insurmountable 6-0 advantage. While the Commodores did claim one point by taking the win in the fifth seeded match, the Crimson lead was too much to overcome, giving Harvard the 6-1 victory.
