Abruzzese, Farrell and U.S. Men's Ice Hockey Team Set to Begin Competition at Beijing Olympics

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior forward and captain Nick Abruzzese and sophomore forward Sean Farrell are set to begin competition with the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey team at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games tomorrow morning, when Team USA takes on host China at 8:10 AM ET on USA Network.
 
Abruzzese, a native of Slate Hill, NY, is one of Harvard's top point producers with 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 17 games. He is 10th in the nation with an average of 1.24 points per game. A psychology concentrator and ECAC Hockey All-Academic selection, Abruzzese had a prolific first-year season for Harvard in 2019-20. He earned CCM/AHCA Hockey Second Team All-America honors. He led all NCAA first-years in scoring with 44 points and was named the ECAC Hockey and Ivy League Rookie of the Year, First Team All-ECAC Hockey and First Team All-Ivy.
 
Farrell, a native of Hopkinton, Mass., is off to a great start in his debut season with the team recording 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 17 games. The USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year in 2021 and a U.S. National Team Development Program alumnus, Farrell is tied with Abruzzese for the team lead with four power play goals on the season.
 
Harvard has had 30 men's hockey alumni selected as a coach, player, or member of team personnel of their respective national teams, including current head coach Ted Donato '91, who represented the U.S. at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Harvard has 24 U.S. Olympic team player selections all-time.
 
The 25-player Team USA roster includes 15 players currently on NCAA rosters, eight European professionals and two players competing in the AHL.
 
The U.S. Men's Olympic Team has won two gold medals, eight silver medals and one bronze medal, last winning gold in 1980.
