CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard's
Hana Moataz, who earlier this month finished as the national runner-up at the Ramsay Cup, has been selected as a Finalist for the 2022 Betty Richey award, it was announced on Thursday.
The native of Cairo, Egypt is one of three Finalists for the honor, joining Emma Jinks of Virginia and Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige of Mount Holyoke College.
The Betty Richey Award is given annually to a student-athlete who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during her college career. This year's winner will be announced at the CSA's Virtual Awards Show, The Senior Serve, on April 19. The event will be live streamed on YouTube beginning at 7 p.m.
While at Harvard, Moataz has twice finished as the runner-up at the CSA Individual National Championships and is a two-time First-Team All-American. She boasts an individual record of 37-1 with the Crimson and played a large part in Harvard's three National Championships as a team during her years with the program.
Moataz is hoping to become Harvard's sixth Richey Award honoree. Past winners include Mary Hulbert '85, Ingrid Boyum '87, Diana Edge '88, Amanda Sobhy '15 and Gina Kennedy '20.
