CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Head coach Ted Donato (Coach of the Year), junior captain
Nick Abruzzese (Player of the Year) and first-year forward
Matthew Coronato (Rookie of the Year) were honored by the Ivy League with year-end awards, the conference announced today (March 9).
In addition, Abruzzese, Coronato, and junior defenseman
Henry Thrun earned First Team All-Ivy honors, junior goaltender
Mitchell Gibson was named Second Team All-Ivy, and both
Sean Farrell and
Ian Moore received Honorable Mention All-Ivy laurels.
ECAC Hockey also announced several conference honors today, naming sophomore forward
Alex Laferriere, Coronato, and Moore to the league's All-Rookie Team. In addition, Laferriere earned Third Team All-ECAC Hockey honors.
Donato guided Harvard to its 24
th Ivy League title in program history and its first since 2017, leading the Crimson to an 8-1-1 mark in Ivy play. In league play, Harvard led all Ivies in scoring offense (3.60 goals per game) and scoring defense (1.70 goals allowed per game).
Abruzzese finished second among all conference skaters with 1.38 points per game in Ivy contests and led the league with eight assists, despite missing two games due to his participation on Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Coronato was the league's top goal and point scorer in Ivy play, notching eight goals and 12 points in 10 games. He also totaled 50 shots on net in 10 games, leading the conference by far with five shots on goal per game. In addition, he led all ECAC Hockey first-years with 13 goals scored.
Thrun was the top scoring Ivy defenseman, recording nine points in 10 games, including a league-best eight assists.
Gibson was excellent in Ivy play, finishing tops among all league goaltenders with a 1.38 goals against average and a .939 save percentage.
Farrell finished fourth among league scorers with 1.14 points per contest, notching eight points (four goals, four assists) in seven Ivy League games.
Moore was second among Harvard skaters with a plus-13 rating and finished fourth on the team with 27 blocked shots.
Laferriere led Harvard with 27 points, 14 goals, and seven multiple-point games in his first collegiate season. He was tied for first among all ECAC Hockey skaters with 12 goals in league play.
