No. 13 Men’s Tennis Extends Win Streak to Four, Defeats No. 39 Princeton, 5-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Extending its win streak to four matches to remain undefeated in Ivy League action, the No. 13 Harvard men's tennis team (14-4, 4-0 Ivy League) edged No. 39 Princeton (16-7, 2-2 Ivy League), 5-2, today at the Beren Tennis Center. The Crimson improves to 14-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win.
 
Harvard picked up the doubles point for the fourth-straight match to go up 1-0 with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Ronan Jachuck and Harris Walker were the first to claim a win for the Crimson, battling to a 6-3 victory on court two. Henry von der Schulenburg and Steven Sun prevailed on court three to seal a 6-4 win and clinch the point for Harvard.
 
The Crimson doubled its advantage at the start of singles play thanks to a 6-2, 6-3 win from Ronan Jachuck in the No. 4 spot. Henry von der Schulenburg was next off the court with a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win at No. 1 to increase Harvard's lead to 3-0. Princeton got on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court five over Daniel Milavsky to make it 3-1.
 
Steven Sun then clinched the victory for Harvard in a battle at the No. 6 spot. Sun picked up a swift 6-0 win in set one, before falling 3-6 in set two. The junior then sealed the match with a dominant 6-1 win in set three.
 
The teams played out the remaining matches, with Harris Walker securing a thrilling 6-1, 7-6 (12-10 tiebreaker) win on court two. Princeton concluded the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Brian Shi in the No. 3 spot, while Harvard went on to win the match, 5-2.

"Princeton is a very talented team and they gave us everything we could handle. Thanks to all the fans who turned out to support the team. The energy was electric and we really fed off that. We are looking forward to the challenge of a strong Penn team tomorrow."

Up Next
Harvard will close out its regular season next weekend with two conference matches. The Crimson will first travel to Brown for a 2 p.m. matchup on Friday, April 22. Harvard will then return home to host Yale on Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at the Beren Tennis Center. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ if moved indoors due to weather.
