Nick Abruzzese and junior defenseman
Henry Thrun were both named AHCA All-Americans, the organization announced on Friday (April 8). Abruzzese earned First Team recognition, while Thrun earned Second Team honors. Harvard now has had 33 players earned All-America recognition, with 49 All-America seasons honored.
Abruzzese, a Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America selection in 2019-20, followed up a phenomenal first year with Harvard with another standout season this year, earning First Team All ECAC Hockey and Ivy League Player of the Year honors after putting up 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists) in 28 games to lead the team in per game scoring (1.18 points per contest). A native of Slate Hill, NY, Abruzzese (along with sophomore
Sean Farrell) represented the United States in men's ice hockey at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, where he recorded four points (goal, three assists) in four games. A 2019 NHL Entry Draft selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Abruzzese signed an entry-level contract with Toronto and made his NHL debut on April 2.
Thrun, a First Team All-Ivy and Second Team All-ECAC Hockey selection, led all ECAC Hockey defensemen in per game scoring (.91 points per game), finishing the year with 32 points (seven goals, 25 assists) in 35 games. Thrun was one of the team's best players down the stretch, helping the Crimson finish the year on a 12-4-2 run. During those 18 games, Thrun recorded 18 points (four goals, 14 assists), and led the team with a plus-14 rating.
