SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In the final weekend of competition before the NCAA East Preliminary meet on May 25-28, Harvard track and field competed at three different meets, with several student-athletes recording their personal bests.
At the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Bryant, senior captain
Jada Jones set the school record in the 100m hurdles on Friday afternoon, winning her heat in 13.36. Her time was also a meet record and beat Karina Joiner's ('20) mark (13.38) from 2018.
Junior
Cammy Garabian set a new personal best in the women's hammer throw, reaching 56.70m (186') on her second throw of the day, which is fourth best in school history and the best effort by a Harvard student-athlete since 2014.
Senior
Kylie Hilton set a new personal best in the pole vault, clearing 4.05m (13'3½") for the second-best mark all-time in school history.
Junior
Sebastian Pereira recorded his personal best mark in the triple jump as well, winning the event with a 15.03m (49'3¾") effort.
IC4A/ECAC Championships
At the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Williamsburg, Va., despite not fielding a full team, Harvard placed eighth in the team competition on the women's side, and 24
th for the men.
Four Harvard women's distance runners placed in the top five of the 1500-meter run, with first-year
Marianne Mihas setting a new personal mark and winning the event in 4:21.09. Senior
Anna Juul (3
rd, 4:22.56), junior
Anna Burt (4
th, 4:23.46), and junior
Maya Rayle (5
th, 4:24.39) were also top finishers for the Crimson in the same race.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, first-year
Isabelle Goldstein shattered her own personal mark in the event, placing second overall in 10:09.41, the second best mark all time in school history.
First-year
Graham Blanks won the 5000 meters with his collegiate best in the event (13:51.65).
On Sunday, sophomore
Egbe Ndip-Agbor placed third in the 400 meters with a season best effort (54.09).
VCU Final Qualifier
On Sunday, Juul won the 1500-meter race at the VCU Final Qualifier in nearby Richmond, Va., finishing with a time of 4:23.61.
